Today God says:
"Keep your mind stayed on Me".

He promises me:
"You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you; because he trusts in you". (Isa. 26:3)

My response to the word:
In order to experience God's perfect peace throughout this day I must keep my mind stayed on Him and I must trust Him. It is not hard to trust the Lord because of His great faithfulness in my life. He has always supplied all my needs. Perhaps the hardest part is keeping my mind stayed on Him due to all the distractions in the world around me. Nonetheless, I will keep focused on the Lord. The Bible says, "let us lay aside every weight, and the sin that so easily besets us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith". I will keep looking to Jesus throughout this day.

My prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for the marvellous peace you have imparted to me. By your grace I will trust you and keep my mind focused on you and let your peace rule in my heart throughout this day.

Today's scriptures:
"Let go of your concerns. Then you will know that I am God". (Ps. 46:10 GW) "Finally, brothers and sisters, keep your thoughts on whatever is right or deserves praise: things that are true, honourable, fair, pure, acceptable, or commendable. Practice what you've learned and received from me, what you heard and saw me do. Then the God who gives this peace will be with you". (Phil. 4:8,9 GW) "Also, let Christ's peace control you. God has called you into this peace by bringing you into one body. Be thankful". (Col. 3:15 GW)

Quote for today:
Where would you be if God took away all your Christian work? Too often it is our Christian work that is worshipped and not God. (Oswald Chambers)

On this day:
On 9th May 1760, Count Nikolaus von Zinzendorf died. Born into one of Europe's leading families, he gave his life to Christ and established a Christian community on his estate. He oversaw the sending of the first missionaries in Protestant history. On 9th May 1828, Andrew Murray was born in Graaff-Reinet, South Africa. Educated in South Africa and Scotland, he became a minister in the Dutch Reformed Church. A pastor and author, he wrote many books on the deeper Christian life.
