Today God says:
"When the enemy comes in like a flood, My Spirit will raise a standard against him".

He promises me:
"So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him". (Isa. 59:19)

My response to the word:
The adversary of my life is Satan. Jesus said, "The thief comes only to steal, and to kill, and to destroy; I am come that you might have life, and that you might have it abundantly". Satan is already a defeated foe. He has no right to any aspect of my life because I am a redeemed child of God.

My prayer:
Lord, thank you for your promise to overcome the enemy in every area of my life. I know you are lifting a standard against him on my behalf.

Today's scriptures:
"I have given you authority to trample snakes and scorpions and to destroy the enemy's power". (Luke 10:19 GW) "A thief comes to steal, kill and destroy. But I came so that my sheep will have life and so that they will have everything they need". (John 10:10 GW) "They won the victory over him because of the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony". (Rev. 12:11 GW)

Quote for today:
Revival - the inrush of the Spirit into the body that threatens to become a corpse. (D M Parton)

On this day:
On 11th November 1491, Martin Bucer, early Protestant reformer, was born at Schlettstradt, Germany. Educated in Catholic schools, he became a professor of theology in the Dominican order. However, hearing Martin Luther explain the Scriptures to the Augustinian order, he converted to the faith propounded by Luther concerning "salvation by faith alone." He withdrew from his order, and, became one of the first priests to marry. He spent his last three years in England, where he had an influence in the revision of the 1549 Book of Common Prayer.
