Today God says:
"Godliness with contentment is great gain for you".

He promises me:
"But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothes let us be content". (1 Tim. 6:6-8)

My response to the word:
Paul wrote, "Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content". With God's help, I will walk in contentment throughout this day, realizing that God will supply all of my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. I know that a contented mind is one of God's greatest blessings.

My prayer:
Dear Father, thank you for the blessing of contentment I now enjoy as I place all my trust in you. Help me to maintain an attitude of contentment throughout this day.

Today's scriptures:
"The Lord will continually guide you and satisfy you even in sun-baked places". (Isa. 58:11 GW) "I've learned to be content in whatever situation I'm in. I know how to live in poverty and prosperity". (Phil. 4:11,12 GW) "My God will richly fill your every need in a glorious way through Christ Jesus". (Phil. 4:19 GW) "Be happy with what you have because God has said, 'I will never abandon you or leave you". (Heb. 13:5 GW)

Quote for today:
If we have not quiet in our minds, outward comfort will do no more for us than a golden slipper on a gouty foot. (John Bunyan)

On this day:
On 13th February 1914, Henry G. Bosch, soloist and founder of the devotional guide, Our Daily Bread, was born. He contacted tuberculosis as a small child, and was plagued by the after effects the rest of his life. Despite life threatening illnesses, he produced some 6000 radio programs in Chicago and Grand Rapids. In 1956, he suggested to Dr. M. R. DeHaan that they publish Our Daily Bread --"to help people establish a pattern of daily Scripture reading and prayer." This is now printed and distributed throughout the world.
